As we prepare for our next tour, I am trying to learn to blog, so I can share our adventure. I am not super tech savy - what sites do you use for your blogs?
Look forward to reading about your trip. We use blogspot.com, which is Google's blog. I find the mobile app works well.

Hi, i use blogspot too and it s easy
And I will visit both your blogs as I try to set one up!
If you want your own blog, there are many places -- I think one of the best is Wordpress, others think blogspot.
However, as a bicycle tourist, you might want to consider what is now the world capital of tour blogging, crazyguyonabike.com -- this site now contains a huge amount of cycle touring info that is an invaluable resource to anyone planning a tour. I would strongly suggest using it. Kee's it "in the family" of bike folks.
I read the original crazyguyonabike journal. Since then I have seen many links as I was looking for other tour journals, but didn't realize that I could journal or blog there! Thanks to your note I just looked back at it - what a great resource. I started a blog on wordpress but found it cumbersome and so after the posts above I started one on blogspot and liked that better. We are not leaving for a few months, so who knows... maybe I will switch to crazyguy. Thanks for the info.
From my experience with blogs and bloggers, it's the longer run that brings trouble. One posts the initial page or two, even finishes the trip report. Then what? You have a domain name and hosting, but who has time or interest to continue to post information to keep it alive? So, eventually, the thing just disappears into the ether. This is why the crazyguyonabike site is so great -- you contribute what feels good to post and it just stays there for anyone to look up -- or not. You don't have to worry about hosting or domain names or if its software is up to date. I think the lesson is that most people don't want to start a blogging enterprise; they just want to keep a diary of a trip that they can share.
The platform depends on how serious you want to be. If it's just for letting friends & family know what you're up to I'd say use one of the free sites like blogspot or wordpress.com. But if you'd like to promote the site to a wide variety of people interested in cycle touring you would be better off registering a domain and using WordPress.org software to publish it. That way you control the site which can have many advantages.
I use WordPress for my site - criticaltransit.com - which as you can tell is geared toward a large audience of transit fans, cyclists and other transport network users, planners and advocates. So I wanted it to appear "professional" and have control over my domain and RSS feeds.
I'll happily answer any questions you may have.
Thank you, Jeremy. I was originally thinking that I just wanted friends and family to be able to follow along. As I have read a number of blogs in preparation for both our tour and blogging, I realize it is helpful to other tourers to read our experiences. Not sure yet which site I will use. I may very well be in touch for help. Thanks for the offer.
