Brit looking for companions: San Fran > LA - Mid Nov '23

Hi all, I'm a 45 yr old Brit from London planning to ride the PCH from San Fran to LA in Nov '23. I'm not going after the world record and will ride a couple days (70, 80 miles but not set in stone) then maybe have a day off if there's somewhere interesting to stay/explore. I'm a relatively experienced bikepacker having done 3 weeks solo round Spain earlier this year. I've also spent a couple weeks riding around the hills outside LA a few years ago so I know LA a little bit.. but it would be great to ride with someone who knows LA properly and could show me round a bit when we get there. I'm an extremely friendly, chatty and supportive riding companion with a typical British sense of humor (dry). It would be absolutely great to get a group together to do this. All ages, genders, sexual orientations, political persuasions welcome. Thanks, John :)

Brit, SF to LA

Hi I’m on my way to ride the Paris Brest Paris then I’m going to do the Lejog. When I get home sometime in September I’ll be up for a ride down to Pacific Coast. I have done the Hwy 1 ride a couple of times before. it’s really a great time to go around October to November, not too cold yet and very low traffic on the route. There is a landslide that is being repaired on Hwy 1, so closed to autos but bike can walk through.

Hwy1

hi Kitty, I'm planning to head down Hwy1 in October 2023 as part of my SF to SD via LA tour. I'm encouraged by your comment "There is a landslide that is being repaired on Hwy 1, so closed to autos but bike can walk through". Is this an official position or just something you're confident that the engineers will "wave" us through on? Is there an alternative route? Worryingly, there doesn't look to be one from what i can see on google maps:(

Awesome! Starting a Pacific

Awesome! Starting a Pacific Coast ride in Vancouver next week. Looking forward to meeting riding companions along the way. Aiming to be in CA in November 2023.

HI John
I lived in Santa Cruz for 24 years! I currently live in the Azores and will be biking from Santa Cruz to Joshua Tree for a Vipassana course. My timeline is a bit later like leaving Dec 7 to go down PCH to LA, where my son lives, or I may want to avoid LA and go east before that, like in Ventura area, towards the desert.
I have always ridden alone and really want to have a bike companion this time. Something new..
My Whatsapp number is +18312127225. Let me know if u are willing to wait for me.
Thanks
Claudine
