My dad and I are planning to bike the camino at the end of September. We'd like to rent or buy bikes when we get to Europe to avoid the hassle of traveling on the plane (and he wants to ride an e-bike, which he doesn't currently own). We plan to start in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France - does anyone here have any recommendations on how or where to acquire bicycles? We are looking into buying plane tickets now, and will probably fly into a major city like Madrid or Paris (or even Frankfurt) and then take a train to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Perhaps there is someone somewhere along the way who is looking to sell or rent their bikes??? That would be perfect! I normally ride a 52cm frame and would prefer drop handlebars, since flat bars aggravate a wrist injury.

Try the app called "Wallapop" this is a second hand market place where you can find plenty of bicycles.
Not sure what your budget is but you could also try Decathalon, maybe pre-order your bikes through there, pick them up in France and sell them at the end of your trip.
As for renting, I am not aware of any bike rental options along the CdS.
There are companies which rent ebikes. Transfer them to your starting point and pick them up from destination point. eg:
