Hello,
I am planning to cycle the Pacific Coast Cycling Route coming from the Olympic NP heading south. Is it possible / safe to cycle over the Astoria-Megler Bridge (Washington USA)? Does anyone have some recommendations about this route regarding safety or any other suggestions?
Would be lovely if someone can help me out with that.
Thanks in advance!
Kindest regards,
Jelle

Hi Jelle,
I have crossed this section of the Columbia River, between Washington and Oregon, a couple times. Cannot think of anything out of the ordinary that makes it challenging. There is a shoulder of medium width. The road surface is paved. Like any bridge, if strong crosswinds, need to respond appropriately. It might be three plus miles, that takes less than 20 minutes for the majority of tourist to cover.
If looking for more, it might help, if others in the WS community could better understand your concerns.
Cheers
Peter
